Abstract Glass - AG261

All photos in this AG261 series are of the same abstract painting. My art explores philosophical perspectivism. This is the idea that all knowledge is subject to the perspective of the interpreter and that there is no single or absolute truth. I create the painting intuitively using colour, shape, and pattern. I draw on memories, experiences, thoughts, feelings, and emotions. It is many different perspectives from my own life brought together as a single creative expression. My Abstract Glass photography series explores the concept of perspectivism at another level. I photograph my abstract paintings through glass objects. I move the painting around so that different parts are photographed, and I move the glass object or use different glass objects. Each image created is unique. This creative process highlights how a single image can appear in a near infinite number of ways depending on where we look and how our view is manipulated or distorted. This series is a metaphor for the world we live in. Something happens and we all see it differently depending on our perspective, our field of view, and the lens of our life experiences, values, and biases.
